Synopsis

Abu Huraira, a close companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), reported the following Prophetic tradition:

The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came to the graveyard and said: Peace be upon you! the abode of the believing people and we, if God so wills, are about to join you. I love to see my brothers. They (the hearers) said: Aren’t we your brothers, Messenger of Allah? He said: You are my companions, and our brothers are those who have, so far, not come into the world. They said: Messenger of Allah, how would you recognise those persons of your Ummah who have not yet been born? He said: Supposing a man had horses with white blazes on fore- heads and legs among horses which were all black, tell me, would he not recognise his own horses? They said: Certainly. Messenger of Allah. He said: They would come with white faces and arms and legs owing to ablution, and I would arrive at the Cistern (Hawd) before them. Some people would be driven away from my Cistern (Hawd) as the stray camel is driven away. I would call out. Come. come. Then it would be said (to me): These people changed themselves after you, and I would say: Be off, be off. (Sahih Muslim, Book #002, Hadith #0482)

In another Prophetic tradition,

One day Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said to his companions: Would that I can see my brothers coming toward me to the pool and welcome them with bowls filled with sweet juices. Before entering the paradise, I wish I can offer them from my Pool of Kawthar. Upon these words, the companions said: O Messenger of God! Are we not your brothers? He replied: You are my companions. And my brothers are the believers who believe in me without seeing me. Surely, I ask of my Lord to illuminate my eyes with you and the believers who believe without seeing me.

In the above Prophetic traditions, Prophet Muhammad (s) clearly indicated that he is yearning and looking forward to meet the band of believers that will come after him, whom he called as his brothers. They accept and believe in the religion of Islam, and love Prophet Muhammad as the Final Messenger of Allah, without ever meeting or seeing him. While the Prophet’s companions continue to hold a special place in his heart, indeed Prophet Muhammad (s) is deeply pleased to know the future will manifest a band of Muslim believers, who deeply love him, his family and companions, despite them being in an environment of vast ignorance, corruption and unbelief. Shaykh Hisham Kabbani shall elucidate the abovementioned Prophetic traditions and will also discuss the prerequisites to be considered as the Prophet’s “brothers”.

Join SimplyIslam’s Hajj & Umrah Course. Commencing Sunday 15 April 2012. [Register Now]

The Hajj is the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, and is the fifth pillar of Islam – a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in our lifetime, whenever we can afford. The lesser pilgrimage or Umrah can be performed at any time of the year (whenever the visa permits, of course!). Learning about the Hajj (and Umrah) does not become obligatory only when we want to perform it, but rather it is a knowledge that all Muslims, men and women, should attain. In Singapore, it has been the norm that pilgrims book a Hajj or Umrah package with a travel agency and attend their prescribed lessons that are often conducted in 25 or more lessons. SimplyIslam is now organising a Hajj & Umrah course over just 13 lesssons. This course is not linked to any travel operator, and participants are free to go along with any travel operator of their choice. Participants in this course will learn from one of Singapore’s most knowledgeable scholar, Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal Abdullah.

About the Teacher
Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal Abdullah embraced Islam 25 years ago and is now considered as one of Singapore’s most learned (‘alim) Muslim convert in Singapore, where Islamic sciences are concerned. He studied at the International Islamic University Islamabad (Pakistan) and also at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. He also studied intensively under the tutelage of Singapore’s world-renowned scholar, Allahyarham Sheikh Umar al-Khatib. He has taught Islam and Arabic language for more than 12 years at places like Darul Arqam Singapore, Masjid Abdul Aleem Siddique and Masjid Al-Istiqamah. He is currently the Director at the Azizah Chishty Quranic Centre and has regular classes at the Centre, and some Mosques. He has written several books among them being:

The Divine Kingdom

The Miraculous Journey Al-Isra Wal-Mi’raj

The Reliance of the Believer in Ramadan

Ramadan Supplications in Singapore Mosques

Hajj & Umrah – A Step by Step Practical Guide. This is among the few comprehensive book and guide to Hajj written in the English language. He also regularly leads groups of people for the Hajj pilgrimage.

Who should attend this course?
Basically all adult Muslims should attend this course as the knowledge will certainly be of benefit. Of course, those who have the intention to be undertake the Hajj & Umrah pilgrimage soon will Insha’Allah benefit immensely from the course.

What will we learn?
The course is conducted over 13 lessons, incuding practical lessons. Participants will receive the book, “Hajj & Umrah – A Step-by-Step Practical Guide”. The course will cover the various tenets of Hajj & Umrah where Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal will discuss the intentions, actions and supplications for various acts of ritual and worship for the entire Hajj & Umrah. He will Insha’Allah conduct the class discussing the following subjects, interlacing his lessons with anecdotes from the Seerah or Life of Prophet Muhammad, and his own personal experiences.

Travel Prayer & Supplication (Du’a)

Intentions

A famous narration, known as the hadith of Jabir after the Companion (ra) who is said to relate it from the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace), states that “the first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet, O Jabir, which He created out of His own light.” Each of these three components – firstness in creation, light, and creation “out of God’s own light” – is independently confirmed in the Qur’an, Hadith, and poetic testimonials of the Companions.

In conjunction with the holy month of Rabiulawal, the month of the birth of Sayyidina Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasallam, SimplyIslam is organising this special discussion with a visiting accomplished Islamic scholar, Shaykh Gibril Haddad, who will discuss the hadith and aspects of the station of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). After the discussions, Shaykh Gibril will lead us in a short dhikr and the recitation of Maulid Ad-Diba’i. Dinner will be served after maghrib prayers.
