The Hajj is the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, and is the fifth pillar of Islam – a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in our lifetime, whenever we can afford. The lesser pilgrimage or Umrah can be performed at any time of the year (whenever the visa permits, of course!).  Learning about the Hajj (and Umrah) does not become obligatory only when we want to perform it, but rather it is a knowledge that all Muslims, men and women, should attain.  In Singapore, it has been the norm that pilgrims book a Hajj or Umrah package with a travel agency and attend their prescribed lessons that are often conducted in 25 or more lessons.  SimplyIslam is now organising a Hajj & Umrah course over just 13 lesssons.  This course is not linked to any travel operator, and participants are free to go along with any travel operator of their choice.  Participants in this course will learn from one of Singapore’s most knowledgeable scholar, Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal Abdullah.

About the Teacher
Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal Abdullah embraced Islam 25 years ago and is now considered as one of Singapore’s most learned (‘alim) Muslim convert in Singapore, where Islamic sciences are concerned. He studied at the International Islamic University Islamabad (Pakistan) and also at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.  He also studied intensively under the tutelage of Singapore’s world-renowned scholar, Allahyarham Sheikh Umar al-Khatib.  He has taught Islam and Arabic language for more than 12 years at places like Darul Arqam Singapore, Masjid Abdul Aleem Siddique and Masjid Al-Istiqamah.  He is currently the Director at the Azizah Chishty Quranic Centre and has regular classes at the Centre, and some Mosques.  He has written several books among them being:

• The Miraculous Journey Al-Isra Wal-Mi’raj
• The Reliance of the Believer in Ramadan
• Ramadan Supplications in Singapore Mosques
• Hajj & Umrah – A Step by Step Practical Guide.  This is among the few comprehensive book and guide to Hajj written in the English language.  He also regularly leads groups of people for the Hajj pilgrimage.

Who should attend this course?
Basically all adult Muslims should attend this course as the knowledge will certainly be of benefit.  Of course, those who have the intention to be undertake the Hajj & Umrah pilgrimage soon will Insha’Allah benefit immensely from the course.

What will we learn?
The course is conducted over 13 lessons, incuding practical lessons.  Participants will receive the book, “Hajj & Umrah – A Step-by-Step Practical Guide”.  The course will cover the various tenets of Hajj & Umrah where Ustaz Mohammed Iqbal will discuss the intentions, actions and supplications for various acts of ritual and worship for the entire Hajj & Umrah.  He will Insha’Allah conduct the class discussing the following subjects, interlacing his lessons with anecdotes from the Seerah or Life of Prophet Muhammad, and his own personal experiences.

• Bath & Ihram
• Entering Makkah, Talbiyyah (Labbaik Allah…) & Seeing the Ka’abah
• Tawaf & Supplications
• Supplications at Strategic Points – Maqam Ibrahim, Al-Multazam, Hijr Ismail, Drinking Zam Zam
• Sa’i between As-Safa & Al-Marwah
• Points of Hajj – Mina, ‘Arafah, Mudzalifah, Jamratul ‘Aqabah/Uula/Al-Wustha, At-Tahallul
• Dhikrs at Mina
• Farewell Tawaf
• Visiting Al-Madinah and the Tomb of Prophet Muhammad (s) – Adab, Conveying Greetings & Supplications
• Ar-Rawdhah – Adab & Supplications
• Visiting Al-Baqee’ Graveyard, Uhud & Tombs of the Martyrs – Adab & Supplications
