Rose in the Desert

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is an excellent example for the rich and poor, young and old, rulers and ruled, and for the most intelligent as well as the most common of people. Allah gave guidance to mankind by urging them to gain salvation by following the examples of Prophet Muhammad. Referring and praising the attributes and characters of Prophet Muhammad, Allah says:

You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah. (Al-Qur’an, 33:21)

Prophet Muhammad is the embodiment of the message and values of the Holy Qur’an. The morality of the Prophet included diverse traits and aspects of life. He was kind, compassionate, caring, generous and humble, but he was also strong, brave, eloquent, wise and insightful. He was a great planner, organiser and thinker, yet he was also a man of faith, trust and devotion to Allah.

He was involved and active with his family and community but he did not neglect his servitude to Allah. He was exemplary as a teacher, preacher, imam, leader, statesman, judge, commander of the armies as well as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a businessman, a neighbour, and a friend.

Shaykh Khalil Moore will expound on the station of Sayyidina Muhammad, peace of Allah be upon him, and his beautiful character and attributes.
All are welcome. No registration required.

The heart is the centerpiece of the servant’s relationship with his or her Creator. If it is sound, the relationship is sound. If it is corrupt, the relationship is corrupt. Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’an: “Successful indeed is he who purifies it. And completely ruined is he who defiles it.”

Shaykh Khalil MooreIn this workshop series we will examine the importance of the life of the heart; the means by which we can attain true spiritual rectitude; some of the key diseases that obstruct our path and how to begin to remove them; and what living the life of a spiritual aspirant on the path to the Hereafter entails.

Much of the discussions in this workshop will be based on some books by the great Imam Abdullah al-Haddad like the “Book of Assistance”. Imam al-Haddad is widely regarded as the mujaddid (or “renewer”) of the 12th Islamic century.

Don’t miss this opportunity to study up close and personal
with Shaykh Khalil Moore!

Abu Hamid al-Ghazali is among Islam’s most influential scholar. This film is an account of the transformative period in Al-Ghazali’s life where, in the midst of worldly success something deep within him stirred and moved him to leave it all behind in search of the ultimate Truth.

The great achievement of Salazar’s film is to portray the unportrayable — the profound inner transformation that is the goal of every spiritual man, yet which few achieve in this life. Through a subtle and sensitive cinematography that takes us on a great journey through Central Asia, Salazar imperceptibly puts us in Al-Ghazali’s shoes.

In today’s world, where Islam is usually only considered in the light of its worst representatives, Salazar reminds us of a man who has, since his lifetime, been universally considered by Muslims themselves to be one who attained the ideal of their religion. Anyone seeking to better understand Islam and Muslims, as well as anyone who feels the inner attraction of the spiritual life will appreciate this film.
